The summer heat in Dubai can be unrelenting, so I thought I would jazz things up a bit by creating some fun mocktails at home. They are perfect to pair with a dinner or canapés and if your guests want to add some extra ingredients (wink wink), then they totally can. There’s plenty of different flavours and varieties but have fun experimenting with different glasses, garnishes and ingredients. So, with that, I’d like to make a toast to all the bosses hustling over the summer trying to launch their new ventures or those who have been in the game for far longer and and are looking to reach the next goal, these drinks are for you. Blackberry and Lemon Mocktail from Running to the Kitchen
1/2 cup fresh blackberries
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup water
1/2 cup pre-made lemonade
juice of 1 lemon
Add the blackberries to a small sauce pan and mash them with a fork or potato masher until broken down into small bits.
Add the sugar, water and lemonade and bring to a simmer.
Simmer over low-medium heat for about 10 minutes.
Strain the mixture to remove the bits of blackberry, add the juice from the lemon and refrigerate the liquid until cooled.
Once cooled, pour the liquid evenly among four glasses filled with ice cubes.
Add seltzer until glass is full.
Garnish with lemon slices, mint and extra blackberries.
Grapefruit and Rosemary Mocktail by The Classic Craftlete
Rosemary Simple Syrup
1 cup water
1 cup granulated sugar
Three sprigs of rosemary
Mocktail per 4 glasses
2 cups fresh pink grapefruit juice
1/4 cup of the rosemary simple syrup
4 cups sparkling water
Rosemary Simple Syrup: In a small sauce pan on the stove, add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar over medium heat. Dissolve the sugar for about 5 minutes. Do not let the mixture boil or crystals will form. Once the sugar has dissolved, pour the simple syrup into a heat safe container. Add three sprigs of rosemary and let steep for at least one hour. The syrup will keep in the refrigerator for ten days.
Mocktail per glass
Add 1/2 cup fresh pink grapefruit into a serving glass. Add 1 Tablespoon (1/2 oz) of rosemary simple syrup. Stir. Fill the remainder of the glass with sparkling water (about 1 cup)
Garnish with rosemary sprig
Moscow Mule Mocktail by The Merry Thought
1/2 cup Ginger Beer
3 tbsp Fresh Lime Juice
3 tbsp Club Soda
Mix ingredients in a copper mug 3/4 full of crushed ice. Stir together. Garnish with lime wedge.
