I was just 10 when my parents told me New Zealand had a new Prime Minister, Helen Clark. As a country that has now our 3rd female prime minister in office, it’s incredible to see not only how much has changed around the world, but how much we still must accomplish for equality.
Throughout her tenure as Prime Minister, and as a Member of Parliament over 27 years, Helen Clark engaged widely in policy development and advocacy across the international, economic, social, environmental, and cultural spheres. She advocated strongly for New Zealand’s comprehensive programme on sustainability and for tackling the problems of climate change. She was an active leader of her country’s foreign relations, engaging in a wide range of international issues. I sat down with Helen during a visit to Dubai, in this podcast, you’ll hear:
- Today’s environment of female leadership and how things have become easier for women to break into.
- Her views on the power of social media and how she’s uses it to connect with the world.
- The future of sustainable development and tips on reducing our impact.
- What the Helen Clark Foundation is focusing on and the needs it’s going to be addressing.
